Further to my blog earlier today on Trump and Confederate statues in the US, the artist Rita Duffy has suggested ‘artistic intervention’ rather than destruction, and has given the example of Carson’s statue at Stormont having a Degas’s ‘Little Dancer’ style tutu added for a few weeks. If you think this is a good idea, sign the petition…

Good idea
And for the Raymond McCreesh playpark maybe a bouncy prison cell?
And whatever you are having yourself.
There are many streets here named after war criminals such as Chichester (Marquess of Donegall), Cromwell and Cook. I hope to see the names of these streets changed in my life time.
What war crimes did these three commit? (Bearing in mind the norms of warfare at the time they were around). And who is Cook?
Ah yes .. Moral/ethical relativism nods its understanding head. God was delegating authority to Kings and Rulers to do more or less as they wished and slaughter and/or enslavement of native populations was entirely acceptable ..!!
In Captain Cook’s case the Hawaiian natives had a God of their own and the insensitive Captain and a lot of his crew were the ones who got slaughtered … It could be another Cook Colman is referring to, but I rather like that little bit of English history..!!
You didn’t answer the question but I didn’t realise there was a street named after Captain Cook. Where is it?
Lots of statues can be removed in the 26 county state as well Jude
Equality and Respect works both ways-or had you forgotten?
I see the Avaas website put a little union flag beside your name Jude. You need to edit your details to say Ireland.
