
.IRELAND SHOULD ADHERE TO THE PRINCIPLES
OF HER DEMOCATICALLY ENACTED CONSTITUTION
In 1949 the British Cabinet Secretary, Sir Norman Brook considered the Implication of Ireland’s description of herself as a Republic, He said, in a memorandum marked “Noted” by Prime Minister
Clement Attlee that the Ulster Unionist position had little merit but that, for strategic regions ” SOME PART OF IRELAND SHOULD REMAIN WITHIN HIS MAJESTY’S DOMINIONS.” Britain was in the process of establishing NATO at the time. The memo remained secret for 30 years, unremarked on its release by mainstream media, but reported in the monthly IRISH DEMOCRAT with its circulation of 2,000. In 1920 Westminster had passed “The Better Government of Ireland Act” declaring that every “person matter and thing in Ireland came under the Imperial Parliament. In 1949 Westminster went one better, with a new “Ireland Act” purporting to give the final say on “Ulster” To the Mickey Mouse “Parliament” of “Northern Ireland”
In 1972, twenty-three years later, Westminster abolished “THE PARLIAMENT OF NORTHERN IRELAND”
