Looking at its letters on line I thought I had fallen asleep and woken up on April 1st -ALL FOOLS’DAY.
For some of the letters did not express hatred for all things Russian nor assert that President Putin was a lunatic and/or a psychopath. And there’s an article written by Fintan O’Toole explaining why any Russian of whatever political persuasion would e a fool to allow NATO or other hostile forces have nuclear or other weapons of mass production close to Russia’s border.
Indeed Fintan and others mentioned numerous illegal wars waged by the United States and their lapdogs in recent years, including one on Iraq costing at least 500,000 lives on the pretext of Weapons of Mass Destruction peddled by Tony Blair, and many by Israel on Palestinian civilians.
I never expected the Irish Times to depart from the line dictated to them by their masters.
*Wonderful to relate” an expression used by Marcus Tullius Cicero in the Roman Senate before my time.
