An Cheist*: Who described Winston Churchill as the most honoured and honourable man to walk the stage of human history in the time in which we live?
Freagra**: U.S. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy on 9 April 1963 when he conferred Honorary US Citizenship on the old scoundrel.
According to a recent feature in History Today JFK worshipped the old blackguard, played records of his speeches and modelled his own delivery on them.
JFK employed a speechwriter who also wrote his Profiles in Courage. Old Joe Kennedy saw that it won the Pulitzer Prize by ensuring that no other piece of writing was considered.
In October 1940 the British Cabinet resolved to drop weapons of mass destruction on Ireland if the Germans landed forces there, The Germans occupied Norway, Denmark, Holland and Belgium, France’s elected Government had come to terms with its forces’ defeat and their British allies’ evacuation, Spain ,with Britain’s help, had established a Fascist Government, as had England’s oldest ally, Portugal. The weapons prepared for dropping on Ireland had not been used by the British on the the Continent.
My source here is A History of the Irish Army , by Lieut.Colonel John P. Duggan a former Intelligence Officer, and Registrar of the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies. The book was published in 1991 and was quoted in The Sunday Press by Proinsias MacAonghusa under his pen-name GULLIVER, a first class journalist.
They were Chemical Weapons and kept by an RAF squadron designated for their use based in either Suffolk or Norfolk. They may have been Mustard Gas, or Anthrax, or some other diabolical weapon devised at the Chemical “Defence” Department at Porton Down which can be blown by the wind over large areas, respecting no borders, nor passports, nor even species, Orange or Green, Lesbian, Gay, Bi or Trans.
In June when JFK visited Ireland he was a hard-nosed Cold Warrior doing his best to get Ireland onside. The Irish-American vote may be a factor in US Elections, but Ireland’s interests, and those of other nations, have never weighed heavily in the Oval Office, the State Department nor the Pentagon. Nor do they today.
