PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT ALL-ISLAND PLANS: A DISTRACTION FROM A BORDER POLL? ALSO: WHITHER THE DUP?

Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has announced plans for a major rail initiative, which would mean that trains between major Irish cities would run at least every hour, and it would take in Tyrone, Fermanagh and Donegal. Meanwhile Drew Harris was a major figure in the RUC and then the PSNI, and now he’s Garda Commissioner (although he’s feeling the heat these days, with the rank and file holding a referendum about whether they like him or not). Both the appointment of Harris and the plans of Eamon Ryan (which would involve tens of billions of euro and would have an end-date of 2050) are both initiative which, it could be argued, bring this small island closer to becoming one unit. But where’s the action or planning for a united Ireland referendum?

Will the DUP get real sometime soon? The good Lord Dodds, Sammy Wilson and Gregory Campbell – and Ian Paisley – are calling for an end to the Windsor Framework – a modern version of the not-an-inch of yesteryear. Can this all end in anything but tears?

Final point: this podcast/vlog is shortened considerably – from just over 20 mins compared to our usual nearly 40 minutes. Do you think it works better when shorter?  Let us know. Now enjoy….
