I have not voted in Ireland since 1961 as I have lived in England since 1964 but many of my fellow
citizens from Ireland have repeatedly voted Michael D Higgins to Dail Eireann and the Presidency of Ireland in the intervening years.
Not a single citizen of Ireland or of any country has voted for the President of the European Commission. Ursula Von der Leyen is a Civil Servant, posing as an elected policy maker.
She has usurped power.
She has claimed, ignorantly at best, that in the last 75 years Israel made the desert bloom. There
are (or were when she made that claim) Palestinians still living, who tilled the land as their ancestors
had done for thousands of years, until it was violently taken from them by European incomers in the 20th Century.
I doubt I am the only reader of your paper who dissents from the letters you chose to print today,
