BORDERS AND LANGUAGE – by Pat Bradley

As we ALL know the border was manufactured, or ‘invented’ to quote a
buddy of mine, to produce the English Colonial Settler majority (the
people of Northern Ireland/the Unionist/Loyalist) majority in the
North.

During the Treaty Debates, many Irish people reckoned that Derry City,
Tyrone & Fermanagh in total, South Armagh & South Down would go to
Dublin, with the possibility of Dublin getting western & southern
County Derry, i.e in today’s Westminister constituency terms, Foyle,
Fermanagh-South Tyrone, Mid Ulster, Newry-Armagh, South Down & West
Tyrone.

The logic in Dublin was that the rump Stormont area would be too small

to survive.

Do NOT discount the possibility of London proclaiming that the NEW
border that London WILL draw is merely Dublin getting ALL of Dublin’s
1924 Boundary Commission WILDEST-DREAM wish-list met.

If London were preparing to leave the North due to demographics, we
would head a long line of “mainland” English Colonial Governers,
since 1990 tell the Ulster English, ‘the people of Northern Ireland’
the Unionists/the Loyalists that the Settler majority is fading and
that once that Settler majority is gone, that London will IMMEDIATELY
open withdrawal talks with Dublin.

But not only do we NOT hear any “mainland” English Colonial Governers
convey the message in the above paragraph, to the White Settlers in
the North, we in actual fact hear almost all “mainland” English
Colonial Governers almost physically fall over themselves proclaiming
that the North is a part of the UK/GB (Greater England) and that
London will NEVER EVER, EVER abandon the SUPER-LOYAL White Settlers in
Ulster.

We must NEVER forget that there is no case known to History of any
Colonial/Imperial power that abandoned loyal colonists, never mind the
SUPER-LOYAL English colonists in the North.

As early as 1936, a group of Settler Professors told Craig that
Stormont should simply and unilaterally abandon Fermanagh, Tyrone &
South Armagh as these areas were an albatross around Stormont’s neck.
During the 1960s  an economic report forTerrence O Neill made the EXACT SAME recommendations for the EXACT SAME reasons.

If Ireland spoke IRISH we would have a language difference between
Seán Mac Ghiolla Eoghain, the IRISH Presbyterian and John McElwaine,
the ENGLISH Roman Catholic in the North. (As I understand things, the
Anglicans, Church of Ireland regard themselves as the protesting
Catholics).

Some time ago, a buddy of mine was the referee in a hurling match in
Galway, as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. He ended up saying ‘Uimhir a
Sé sa geansaí donn’ as he could not pronounce the African & Polish
names.

We would also see, if Ireland spoke IRISH, two foreigners who LIKE
living in Ireland, the chaps from Nepal & Nigeria living & working
peacefully in Nenagh with a common/link language – GAEILGE.

Surely the French settlers in Algeria were abandoned by DeGaulle back in the early 60s

Maggie Thatcher is supposed to have asked one of her generals why the border had to be so squiggly and could they not straighten it somewhat. Says it all really.
