1. Don’t call President Biden. ‘Genocide Joe’. Name-calling is school-yard stuff for children. And besides, it’s the favourite rhetorical tool of Donald J Trump.
2. When making a decision, you have to weigh up the potential advantage to others and to yourself. In this case, what going to Washington will do for the Palestinian people and what it will do for Sinn Féin and the furtherance of Irish unity.
3. Not going will get the attention of the world and may bring a surge of moral self-regard, but do you think that’s likely to change American foreign policy and bring an end to the US’s attitude to Israel? Can you see the headline: ‘Biden bends to Irish boycott and stops supporting Israel’? I can’t. Within days, even hours of the boycott, Ireland will be forgotten. Until next year’s St Patrick’s Day, when Ireland’s unique access to Washington may find it’s facing a locked White House door.
4. Jaw-jaw is better than war-war, Churchill once said. And for once he was right. You don’t persuade people to change their attitude by cold-shouldering them. If you think you’ve got any influence, you have to have the guts to turn up and state your case.
5. President Biden needs to be reminded that while he may be prepared to do things for Ireland, like encourage American investment here, the irish people in America can do or not do at least one crucial thing next November: vote or not vote for him.
6. The many opponents of Sinn Féin will be hoping that they can use this occasion to bludgeon the Shinners by yelling that they’re spineless puppets and should speak truth to power…No, wait a minute. That’d mean they’d have to be in Biden’s presence on St Patrick’s Day…
7. In the decades of our conflict, respect and deference were invariably shown to the victims in any case – their call was what decided the most appropriate steps. The Palestinian ambasssador, Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid has said she would not tell Sinn Féin or anyone else to boycott Washington on St Patrick’s Day. So sin é, except you think the Palestinians need to have decisions made for them.

At least 130 Human Beings slaughtered and
at least 170 injured in Rafah Today, courtesy of Mr
Biden and the Israeli Defence Forces. What will
the death toll be as a result of hunger, disease, lack of
medical facilities, lack of shelter, bombs and bullets
on St Patrick’s Day?
Mr Biden continues to support the IDF in spite of
the opinion of the International Criminal Court. He
obviously believes in War-War-War.
As a private citizen I think that NATO and would-be nato members are active genocidalists.
But I am not the leader of a political party hoping to form an Irish Government.
Eamon de Valera, the mathematician, a calculating, rational, ethical and effective statesman, criticised
unethical, evil policies, and silly ones. He condemned sins but not sinners.
When he met Lloyd George, the Welsh scoundrel tried to get him to bad-mouth John Redmond but
Dev reminded the scoundrel that he had cheated the former Irish leader.
Varadker, successor to a string of foot-in-mouth Blueshirt leaders, flew to Kiev to kiss ass with the dirty-shirted clown US puppet President and declared de Valera, the late. great Doctrinaire Democrat
a “Fascist.”
And not a peep in THE IRISH TIMES which exulted in Hitler’s accession to power in March 1933!
Very good jude free Palestine
why did we boycott SA goods & are asked to boycott a string of businesses, but we must not ask SF to boycott visiting a man supplying weapons of mass destruction to murder thousands of CHILDREN, men, women, cut off aid, starve them to death & SF thinks going to Washington is the right thing to do as they will speak to Joe about their concerns. Meanwhile, the terror continues.
Blame Hamas for that Bridget, they are responsible for this. Do you have qualms about supporting a group which raped, murdered, mutilated and kidnapped men, women and children?
Protests are vital but it’ll take more than protests to alter Israel’s course, they unfortunately have so much influence with the wests Govt’s and media, SA did not have that influence. Biden is in a bind, as Israel is totally out of control which will be to its own detriment. Israel controls the US, SF/Ireland can only try and influence but they have to keep their eyes on the prize, Ireland can not allow israel to pull down Irelands influence in Washington. Ireland and israel both have tremendous influence in Washington for their size but unlike Israel’s Ireland’s will endure, it’s built on trust and admiration and affection, Israel’s is based on threats and fear. One will endure.
Donald Trump would be an even bigger horror for Gaza, make no mistake about it. Look at the carnage he caused last time. He detests Muslims ( only the poor oppressed ones of course, he loves the UAE and Kuwait and co, or rather their money) so be careful what you wish for.
