How sleepy (or alert) did Joe Biden seem during his State of the Union address yesterday? Will he be able to withstand the Trump voters in November? Right now Trump is well ahead in the polls.
And what kind of person is a Trump voter? It’s not as if Trump were a novelty. But poorer, older, more rural people tend to vote for him, especially when he promises to deal with immigrants, drugs, foreign wars. But he didn’t do those things las time out – why believe him now?
The Irish Times today has a piece which is critical of the civic nationalism group ‘Ireland’s Future’. The paper says it sounds suspiciously like Sinn Féin talking.

If America votes Trump back in again it deserves all it gets. Trump’s base is the very wealthy (tax cuts) and the very stupid. You think Joe Biden’s Middle Eastern policy is bad, just imagine what Trump’s would be like. Gaza will be obliterated. Trump’s anti Muslim rhetoric only applies to the poor in places like Libya and Iraq. He worships the Kuwaitis and Saudis. Trump has zero political opinions beyond racism. He is desperate to avoid prison and the only way he can do that is to somehow get back into the Oval office. Pat is spot on.
