Did you tuck into turkey on Wednesday? Most people did, but if you check back, that poor old bird lived a rotten life, had a brutal death, and then you – yes, YOU – ate it. Is the tide turning, as it were? Will turkey be a thing of the past in a few years?
Newly-released state papers show that Mary Robinson wanted to stop being President of Ireland, after only two years in the job, because the UN made her a better offer. The Dublin government gave her a thumbs-down, but she finally left for the UN a few months before the end of her period in office. Classy?
Will D Trump change the US and the world over the next four years? I’m predicting that inside four years the Republican party, let alone the US, will have had enough of this narcissistic clown.

that one of her own ancestors had been a flunkey (Groom of the Stool?) there during Victoria’s reign.
The following day the Court Circular, published in The Times reported the visit of “the President of
the Republic of Ireland”. If the Brits were to publish such a snub to France, it might provoke a
quarrel on the Champs du Mars.
As Mrs Robinnson’s maiden name was Burke, she and I are remotely related. And I recall the BBC
at the time of the Coronation tracing the Queen’s lineage to Brian Boru I am related to Mrs Robinson’s
Hostess, Brian was the son of Kennedy.
I thought then and still think that Mary Robinson let us down at the time.
But she has done some good at the UN since, particularly as regards Palestine.
I enjoyed my turkey, fantastic! I hope God willing to enjoy it for many more years to come. As for Trump, America is screwed. The fun part will be watching him and Musk fall out. I agree that Joe Biden was much more of a friend to Ireland.
