THE LITTLE OXFORD DICTIONARY OF CURRENT ENGLISH first published in
1930, 6th Edition 1986 reprinted 1988 tells its readers that:-
A SEMITE IS A MEMBER OF ANY RACES SUPPOSEDLY DESCENDED FROM
SHEM, INCLUDING JEWS AND ARABS.
It’s said that the past is another country and many scholars can be induced to change
their testimony to go with the fashion. So perhaps later editions contradict the above
definition.
The old edition says that SEMITIC IS AN ADJECTIVE OF FAMILY INCLUDING HEBREW AND ARABIC. of Semites, esp. of Jews.
Webster’s Dictionary has (apparently recently) restricted the meaning of Semitic ,
not in the interests of students and authentic scholarship but to promote Zionism.
WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY IS NOW TEL AVIV GAGGED
But, unlike THE ROAD TO MOROCCO it’s no laughing matter.
