• Hands up who remembers Leo Varadkar? Right – former leader of Fine Gael, a party once seen as the party of the West Brits. Not so now, it appears. In Philadelpha at an Irish rally, Leo urged on his listeners to help Ireland organise itself and make plans for Irish unity. Is he saying that because he believes it, or because he’s no longer in politics?

And what about Trump and the stock market? It fell like a stone, then soared, and since has fallen again. Would there be any chance that some insiders are making money out of this?

And Irish young people are better educated than ever. So why then is it that, as soon as they graduate, they head for the airport? And will they ever come back?
