A lot of people tend to think Donald Trump is the top liar in the Western world. Yes, he lies a lot – as did Tony Blair, when he told parliament that Iraqi nukes were just 45 minutes from London. The amount of bloodshed that provoked is etched on Blair’s face: he is like a walking dead man.
But let’s locate the most important liar of these days:Benjamin Netanyahu. At least eight times between 2007 and 2024, Netanyahu has given public warnings about Iran’s nuclear and pressing intentions.

However, these eight are the clearest identifiable, specific declarations where he put a concrete timeline or strong warning on the record.
In September 2012 he gave a ‘red line’ speech to the UN General Assembly and on NBC’Meet the Press, where he warned that by mid-2013 Iran would be only months, maybe weeks away from a nuclear bomb.
IOn 8 January, 2020, he promised that ‘under his watch’, Iran ‘would never be allowed to have nuclear weapons’
On 16 January 16, he claimed that Iran was developing nuclear weapons.
On 9 March, he said he’d gone back into government ‘in order to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear state’
On 18 January, 2024he declared ‘I am obligated to present Iran from attaining nuclear weapons.
In 2007/2008, he repeatedly ‘talked about Iran ‘racing to arm itself with atomic bombs.’
And on and on and on.
The supreme irony, of course, is that Israel has had nuclear weapons sine 1967. But then, Israel is a ‘responsible state’.

Netanyahu has been warning the world about Iran for thirty years at least. They are always on the verge of making a nuclear bomb so they can wipe out Israel. Nonsense. Iran had signed up to a deal with the USA, EU and UK. Once the human wrecking ball got back in the White House he tore it up. Smart. The reason Israel gets a pass from American politicians is obvious. Rich Jewish donors. Fair enough. The lunatics in Tehran are religious fundamentalists as are the people in America who support Israel. We are being fed the same lies Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, Colin Powell and the rest fed us all those years ago. I don’t really care about how the people in Iran are ruled, it is up to them to get rid of bad leaders. In the old days America would forment mischief, assassinate left wing politicians and blame the Russians. Now they just threaten countries with huge bombs. No odds about the civilians.
