Beyond moralising – by Randall Stephen Hall

Plus a song called THE BOATYARD
See link below . . .

There is a place, beyond moralising
Down the road and round the corner
From a wee village called Hippocracy.

It’s not hard to see these folks
And their one eyed blindness
As described by Yeats
Around the early times of the Free State.

The Free State ?
A contradition in terms
After a toxic male Fest
Of brother killing brother.
You know, the kind of stuff
Celebrated by one of our greatest writers
Sean O’Casey.
Who graced us with his words
While other folk were out collecting
Bombs and bullets
Like men, (I use the term loosely)
Men fishing for acts of violence
Around the shores of Ireland.
Like children, collecting kindling.
Again a contradiction in terms.
Not “kind-lings” from the fairy folk
But demons prepared to pay any price
With anyone’s life
To score a goal for freedom
And step away from an empire
Built from years of hatred, theft
And the loss of love for your fellow
Human.

Further along the coast
Is the village of Myopia
Where many of us live now.
With our heads down
Alone, on our phones
Distracted by events in Palestine
Forgetting that what’s yours is mine.
Our breath, our children,
our suckling babies
And maybe just maybe
Some folk who will lift their heads up
And see what is going on here
Beyond the Republican dream
Of a united Ireland
Unwilling or unable to realise
That it is a process of agreement
Rather than an act of force.

THE BOATYARD.

    Abdolute drivel.
Poor unionist sensibilities, their beautiful empire is collapsing.
We Irish dont need the agreement of the Irish unionist to gain freedom, sovereignty and justice.
Randall and friends will have one vote each as well. We will not gerrymander them, but we will demand respect for the votes. And we’ll have less of the whining after having endured B Specials, RUC and UDR armed loyalists for over a century.
