I was really glad to see that video clip of Israeli treatment of people seized from that aid-providing flotilla headed for Gaza. I was glad when Israeli minister Ben-Gvir was shown mocking them and taunting them. I was happy that the members of the flotilla were shown with their hands tied behind their back, kneeling on the ground. And finally I was happy when a woman protestor (perhaps Irish) was forcefully reduced to silence when she shouted “Free, Free Palestine”.
I’m not glad that any of these events happened, but I am glad there was a video of events. Now the world can see what the state of Israel does to people from around the world, including Dr Margaret Connolly, sister of Ireland’s President, Catherine Connolly, when they attempt to bring food and medicines to Palestinians in Gaza who are at this moment dying through lack of provision.
And adding a dark humour to the whole affair, Netanyahu has declared this arrogant treatment of protestors is not in line with Israeli policy.Pull the other one, Butcher Netenyahu.
The flotilla was intercepted in international waters – a crime. The people on board that we saw were kidnapped – a crime. The brazen contempt for everyone opposed to them even provoked the cautious Taoiseach to say he thoroughly disapproved of what had happened and he’d be raising it at an EU meeting next month. (I’m offering odds that the EU will do sweet fuck all in response)
So yes, I’m glad that murderous tyrants have been exposed by brave people, including the President of Ireland’s sister and an occasional contributor to this blogsite, Fra Hughes. Now even the dullest, dumbest person can see Israel and its officials and armed forces for what they are.
I have just one concern: I suspect that Israel, like Donald Trump, will shrug off any criticism, because they don’t give a damn what the world thinks. They are strong, their opponents are weak, so the Might is Right doctrine brazenly flourishes.
Israel controls the American Senate and Congress because of the huge amount of money it hands out. Trump personally receives millions (no surprise there, his greed knows no limits) as do members of his crime family. Israel of course is supported by Protestant Bible thumpers, the cranks who are trying to bring about their own favourite event, Armageddon. So they can do pretty much whatever they want.
