Thursday next will be the 46th anniversary of the killing of 18 British soldiers at Narrow Water, near Warrenpoint. On the same day in Co Sligo, Lord Mountbatten was blown to bits on his boat near Sligo- along with two young boys. Do you remember that time? Even if you don’t, how do you view that day in the heart of the Troubles?
There’s a man in the Irish Times who says he’s stopped supporting Liverpool FC. since pawrt of it is owned by Jeff Bezos, and it wears Standard Life on its jerseys – both with Israeli interests. Would. you stop viewing any team with such links? Or other teams with links to the Israeil state? And what about viewing the GAA, which is supported by Allianz, which has ties with Israel? If you stop viewing games, is that just cutting off your sporting nose to spite your political face?

27 August 1979 was a day of great shame for Ireland.
A few weeks later the Pope visited Ireland, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
It was undoubtedly a terrible day for Mountbatten’s family and the families of the British soldiers. Also for the family of the innocent witness of the Narrow Water ambush who was shot dead by a typically trigger happy British. Check it out.
