Archbishop Justin Welby and his naughty mum

Did you laugh when you heard about it? I confess I did, just a little bit. The thought of a deeply religious man like the Archbishop of Canterbury finding out that his mother had been having a bit of how’s-your-father with a man other than her husband when the Archbishop was conceived, must have prompted the odd  small smile,  if not a yelp and roar of “Ah ye boy ye!”

But I suppose if you’re going to find your da was not your da and your mother put herself about a bit, so to say, isn’t it fortunate that your real da was a well-connected man who worked as Winston Churchill’s private secretary? Yes, the beast-with-two-backs put in an appearance outside the bounds of matrimony but no, it didn’t pop up outside the bounds of privilege and class. The archbishop presumably wouldn’t have been shocked if his real da had turned out to be a drunk – after all his supposed father was one. But how awful if his real da had emerged as a drunk who stumbled around the locality, muttering and taking swigs from a brown paper bag!

The oddest thing of all, though, is that his mother is said to have been totally shocked to discover the boy’s father wasn’t the man she had been married to. The English upper crust aren’t always known for their intelligence, but you’d think little Justin’s mum might have been able to see the connection between her dalliance with Sir Anthony Montague Browne and the arrival of little Justin nine months later.

The A.B.C. of Arch-Bishop of Canterbury.

The initials of Sir Anthony Montague Browne
Need to be written up or indeed dusted down
    Well, G.O.D. damn
    It’s,( gulp) S.A.M.B.
Put an O before and he’d be from the land of O’Chone.

Justin’s ma seems to be making the excuse that she had a feed of drink in her at the time and didn’t have much realisation as to what yer man had been up to.
But the cynic in me wonders was it planned or fortuitous that she seems to have got married just in time to keep herself looking ‘respectable’!

I can’t go along with you there, Jude, or with “Perkin Welbeck” or Sherdy.
Archbishop Welby has demonstrated what it means to be a sincere Christian and those who
throw stones at his mother don’t.

A very appropriate comment on Jude’s blog and his buddy Perkins caustic follow up.It must be great to be as morally superior as these two!

It depends on who you’re comparing us to, Argie…

It is a clear sign of ones own insecurity to take pleasure in the personal difficulties of others.

      I thought it was schadenfreude…

        Jude
        From wikipedia
“researchers have found that people with low self-esteem are more likely to feel schadenfreude than are people who have high self-esteem.”

        • Jude Collins April 10, 2016 at 6:48 pm #

Oh well. Wikipedia. That’s it, then. “Researchers” – very reliable source, that. I’m told I have an inflated sense of self-esteem ( most frequently by the present Mrs Collins) and I experience schadenfreude on a regular basis. Maybe I should check with my doctor…

            Jude
I suppose I’m just baffled at this nudge nudge wink wink stuff that even Donal takes exception to.
Must be a slow news day.

Wikipedia has been compared to a public toilet by many researchers Jude, anyone can just drop in and take a shite……

Public toilets are very useful at times.

This sort of thing is quite common when it comes to the English upper crust. When it comes to the British or English ( or German?) Royal Family there has been rumours and scandals going back centuries.

I think it was Lord Mountbatten (Yes, the same one who the IRA killed) that said that the Royals were “never out of other peoples beds”. He and his wife certainly enjoyed sleeping around with other peoples husbands and wives. Mountbatten was also said to have coached Prince Charles on attracting women, he even advised Prince Charles to sleep with as many women as he could before he married. And, of course, there is rumours that Mountbatten visited the infamous Kincorra Protestant Orphanage to abuse children.

I don’t think I can post photo’s here but I’ll try to put up a link or if anyone has the time, go and do a google search of Princess Diana’s lover, James Hewitt and compare his photo with Prince Harry. James Hewitt was a Major in the British Army. He was born, of all places, in Derry. Prince Harry is an absolute splitting image of James Hewitt, its definitely Harry’s father. Now, of course, James Hewitt said that Diana and his 5 year affair was after Harry was born but its not exactly unheard of for people to get a few stern threats by the British Royals/British Government to say/do whatever the British Government wants them to say/do, I’m certain that has happened to Hewitt. But the proof is there before our eyes: Harry is Hewitts son. Who knows what would have happened if Hewitt refused to do what he was told, he might end up in a mysterious car crash………

Even going back centuries there have been rumours and scandals in the British Royal Family. King Billy himself was said by many Historians to have been a homosexual (I’m sure that went down well with the Orange Order). King Billy had a liking to be around beautiful, young boys in his court. He even promoted them, gave them expensive gifts, employed very skilled artists to do their portraits, etc. From what I’ve read King Billy spent little time with his wife, preferring the company of these same young men which he spoilt rotten. Hence the rumours even while he was alive that old Billy of the Boyne was more into laying on his front than his back…..

Of course the Orange Order have come out to furiously dismiss these suggestions by Historians. But there again the Orange Order lie and preach that the Battle of the Boyne was a battle of : Protestantism vs Catholicism, which it plainly wasn’t. There were Catholics in William’s army. There were Protestants in James’ army. William carried the Papal Standard and had the blessing of the Pope. James had the support of the King of France, who was the most powerful King in Europe at the time, hence why the Pope feared him and Frances growing power. Even after the battle the Pope held a Mass in celebration of Williams victory. When the penal laws came in it wasn’t only directed at Catholics (though they got the worst of it) but Protestants like Presbyterians were also discriminated against and treated badly. The great irony is if the bulk of the Orange Orders membership today lived immediately after the Battle of the Boyne they would’ve been subjected to the penal laws, including Paisley Jnr lol

Slightly off topic but there’s also many facts the Orange Order/Apprentice boys don’t preach when it comes to the Siege of Derry in 1688. The call “No Surrender” didn’t originate in Derry, it originated in Cork City. Before King William broke the Siege of Derry he promised to reward those protestants in the city for staying loyal. The Catholics that remained in the city were murdered, their bodies were used to fatten up dogs which were then ate by the people during the siege. But after the Siege was broken by King William, William didn’t honour his promise. Most of the protestants weren’t rewarded or compensated. Indeed the hero of the Siege of Derry, John Mitchelburne died in a debtors prison. The Anglicans dismissed the role of the Presbyterians during the Siege and took much of the credit.

Robert Lundy, the hated traitor of the Siege of Derry, wasn’t punished by William for trying to hand the City over to King James. He was locked in the Tower of London but was later released. According to Susan McKays “Northern Protestants” Lundy even fought more Wars for William. He was also said to have been a very skilled commander, though he thought the Siege of Derry was hopeless and would rather have accepted good terms of surrender with King James. When the citizens of Derry heard of his planned surrender they hunted for him but he was protected and he escaped at night with the help of soldiers. It was said he climbed out of the city with a sack of “match wood” on his back.

Derry was saved for the Protestants in 1689 but today it is all but hopelessly gone, as Susan McKay said “but today the Catholics have captured Derry”. Even Belfast, the Capital of Unionist Northern Ireland and a Unionist Citadel for centuries has been captured by the taigs…..

Whether its Prince Charles sleeping with Camilla, Prince Andrew (allegedly) sleeping with underage American girls, Mountbatten bed hopping with other men’s wives, Dianna having a fling with British Army Majors and Muslim men or King Billy flattering and lavishing gifts upon handsome young men, they all have one thing in common: behind the upper class snobbery, they are just as likely to have an STI than any Saigon prostitute during the Vietnam War….

“This sort of thing is quite common when it comes to the English upper crust.”
I think you will find it is quite common in the rest of the population too.
Your allegation about Mountbatten is rumour and I am sure Jude will be along to demand your evidence.
Ditto the on about Prince Harry, but don’t worry it will be Jude going to court for printing it, not you.

Yip I can confirm that it is indeed just a rumour that REDACTED liked to REDACTED and encouraged REDACTED to do likewise. You are way off the mark with that one Ryan.lol

Wt – I’ve censored your post, I’m afraid. I know it’s good fun but if I were a unionist, I might think it less fun. Btw – I’m most definitely NOT doing this censoring because gio’s ominous warning has reduced me to a quivering, apprehensive jelly. Just let’s not be too abusive of one another’s loyalties

          • Wolfe tone April 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm #

No problem Mr Collins. Alas some people can’t handle the truth. Would it be remiss of me to clarify that Lord Louis Mountbatten was not so much interested in the ladies but rather the men/boys? After all rumours that he was a serial womaniser are unfounded.
I won’t be offended if you censor the above but some on here really are a bit sensitive. I have read comments on here that outright offensive to my beliefs but it’s par for the course. Btw I miss Neill, William Fay and(can’t mind her name) the South African/n Ireland oul doll. They were so much better craic.

          • Jude Collins April 11, 2016 at 5:59 pm #

Grma, Wt, for your gentlemanly acceptance of my redaction. So much is in how one says what one says, as PK might put it, going backwards. Yes, the SA/Ireland ‘oul doll’ – damn, I can’t remember her name either. No doubt sharper young ….Just remembered. Norma. As in Normal. Or, come to think of it, Abnormal…

You would have thought that Justin’s mum couldn’t fail to notice that young Justin was the spit of Sir Anthony Montague Browne. No need for a DNA test there!

I always assumed Diana got a divorce and rather than having a fling with the “Muslim” Dodi Fayed, actually began a relationship with him. And yes, of course I’ve heard the stories around King William’s homosexuality (I believe he whipped the Pope’s bum with a lilly) but never considered it a reason to attack him.

As a good Tory, he took one for the Party to deflect news of Camoron.

A superb point, PJD. I say that because the present Mrs C made exactly the same point yesterday…
