Amnesty International has denounced the war crimes being conducted by Israel in Gaza. Does it matter what they or anyone else says? If the slaughter can’t be stopped and the criminals convicted?

f there is one thing Amnesty Intertanional will not be found in want of it’s virtue signalling and self aggrandizement. Anyone who takes the trouble to investigate the real origins of AI may like to re-examine it’s record.
Those of us old enough to remember the introduction of internment here in 1971 may recall sitting gasping in expectation of a massive condemnation of it from Amnesty, that condemnation never arrived, what we got was a mild admonishment in the form of ‘now now Britain behave yourself’ as well as various excuses such as the ‘ the circumstances sometimes require this sort of thing’. ( they did lodge an objection to it but you get my drift, they didn’t actually do anything about it or make an issue of it). I’m paraphrasing of course but anyone can check the newspaper archives from the period. Amnesty has been noticeably quiet over the entire history of the so-called ‘troubles’ , their recent outburst of indignation about the torture of the hooded men of 1971 was somewhat belated coming as it did nearly half a century after the late John McGuffin’s masterly exposé of the affair in his book ’The Guinea Pigs’ (1974). Their condemnation of Israel has been fairly lukewarm as well considering the longevity and high profile of the issue. Why has it taken them over a year to condemn the slaughter in Gaza? ( or the West Bank for that matter, it didn’t start on October 7th and they are well aware of that). Amnesty International is registered in Britain as a charity and a charitable trust and claims to be non-political and that it does not accept donations from governments and as such can only be financed by members and charitable donations however, in the past ten years they have received substantial donations from the UK Department of International Development, The European Commission and the United States State Department, three governmental based organisations openly in support of the genocide in Palestine. Nothing new here really, I’m 73 now and have been watching them for decades. Amnesty is and always has been a surrogate anti-communist front with its roots firmly planted In British Intelligence (excuse the oxymoron) and information acquisition. The old adage that British chaps don’t do this sort of thing doesn’t carry much weight in Ireland where we know better as of old. Ná Fág do chac ar do thairseach Féin, or as we say in the foreign gibberish ‘Béal-rá’ , ‘Don’t shit on your own doorstep, that’s the policy of Amnesty International and always has been. But, Then, I can say whatever I like can’t I , after all it’s a free country isn’t it? Well? Isn’t it?
