The ongoing slaughter of the innocents in Gaza by Netanyahu and his Zionist henchmen in the Israeli government/military is shocking to most people around the world. Those in positions of power who might be able to stop the war and the killing are compelled to support Netanyahu and the Zionists – for whatever reason. Netanyahu will be more emboldened by Trump’s bombing campaign in Iran. Nobody knows where this will end. 

British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer and his Labour government and the EU support Netanyahu. He has the support of the FF/FG Dublin government when they allow US planes carrying military equipment for the Israeli army to stop at Shannon airport in County Clare.

With regard to the response of the Christian churches, there is need for a clearer response in favour of the suffering people in Gaza –many on the verge of starvation.

The Christian Pastor of Bethlehem, Reverend Munther Isaac, posted a video on Youtube condemning the hypocrisy of the West and the Churches for their weak and ambivalent response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza. He said that if the Christian Churches cannot condemn the Israeli genocide in Gaza, then they have lost all claims to moral authority.

There are some Christian leaders who state that both Hamas and the Zionists are equally to blame for the genocide inflicted on the people of Gaza. These are taking a political not a moral position. They seem to accept that the Israeli response to the Hamas bombing on 7th October is justified as ‘self-defence.’  As the UN secretary, Antonio Gutteress, has said ‘October 7th did not happen in a vacuum’. 

 

The only encouraging sign at present is the growing support around the world for the Palestinian people and the growing demand that they will continue to have their own state. 

Meanwhile, there is much we in Ireland can and must do to show our solidarity with the People of Gaza and our opposition to the actions of the Israeli government. We must Boycott all Israeli goods and products and businesses. The Israelis have a great many interests and products in the shops and supermarkets. 

Shop owners should not stock Israeli goods and shoppers should stop buying Israel products.  That is the least we can do to support the suffering people of Palestine in their hour of need.  A list of Israeli products can be found on the internet. For starters, we can boycott Coca Cola and products by Goya.

We must act on behalf of the Palestinian people and oppose Netanyahu and his Zionist war-mongers -and the Trump regime in the United States of America.
