Andy prepares to break the circuit

Usually reliable sources tell us that Andy Burnham’s Catholic faith is very important to him. I’m glad to hear that,  because he is now Prime Minister of an absurdly divided country. I don’t mean by that that Scotland and NEI – and Wales – would quit the Union if they could. Brexitland, to put it bluntly, is a bugger. But even to look at the distribution of wealth in Britain and. you’ll see the task facing Andy.

.The top 20% of households own around 65-70% of the wealth in Britain. But then, what do you expect, when the man who anointed Andy as PM, King Charles, is worth at least £640 million. Yep,that’s at LEAST. Some say you could double that and still be not far off the mark. What has Charles done to be so rich? Don’t be so silly. Kings don’t do things – they have people to do things for them. People who have worked for the Royals have made various claims: that someone squeezes Charles’s toothpaste for him, that his shoelaces get ironed,  that his pyjamas are freshly pressed each morning ,that he  travels with his own bed and toilet seat, and that his childhood teddy bear is repaired where necessary because the King is very attached to it.

That’s the man Andy Burnham has to bow to and receive the power to form a government. Not exactly the even distribution of wealth, whatever about Andy’s plans to distribute power.

But the one thing that sticks out as a glaring contradiction as I see it, is the fact that a part of Burnham’s job is to be ready to press the nuclear button, should it be necessary, so Britain does its bit to eliminate humankind.

Still, at least he didn’t do a Thatcher at the door of No 10 and quote from St Francis of Assissi. You know, the bit about ‘Where there is conflict let me bring peace’ and all that.

Cheer up, Andy. It’s a low bar they’ve set for you.
