Once again, not my own words but that of a unionist in defence of the wrong-doings of the British armed forces.

MI5, RUC, Army, Special Branch, 14th Intelligence Unit, UDA, UDR, UVF, LVF, WTF… all part of the same combined British military front, all supported in their day by mainstream unionism and authorised to kill with impunity in Ireland by Westminster in a very dirty conflict.

Now that the conflict is over, is the political process any less dirty?

To preserve the good name of the British forces, there is an orchestrated campaign of vilification, apparently not only against republicans but possibly against all Irish combatant forces, even those who one were once allies in the British military campaign.

I suppose with the expected change in demographics, it is imperative that the British authorised involvement in state sanctioned terrorism, black, white and grey propaganda, all valid tools listed in the British army handbook, are hidden from the public as much as possible.

What is hidden behind national security is just too bad and goes too high we are told by all of the political pundits, the cover up backed by political leaders including Mike Nesbitt, once victims commissioner, though we can see clearly now why there is disagreement in what constitutes acceptance of the term victim.

I wonder how working-class loyalists feel about being vilified to allow their once unionist leaders to reach out to Catholics and maximise their chances of keeping their well-paid jobs now we are on the other side of the unionist peak and their numbers are on the downhill slope.

We have the Queen and Peter Robinson speaking in Irish, less flying the union flag, Orange Order in decline and now public mockery over the intelligence and employability of so-called loyalists.

If this is what they were fighting for, then perhaps “dickhead” is indeed a suitable name for them and “unemployed” the best they can look forward to in the new northern Ireland as envisaged by mainstream unionism.

Jessica , I think ,rather that admit to or open up any files ,Britain would prefer an exit strategy from here….their moral high ground would become a stinking quagmire if even a miniscule amount of their putrid and degenerate exploits were revealed ,-shamed and reviled they would be unable to lecture other “lesser nations” in the values of those familiar oxymorons ….” British Justice ” and ” British Democracy ” …..but they seem to be in quandary ….if they let this place go , Scotland follows and Britain is no more….if they proceed with their ” Brexit ” strategy , Scotland could go ,we would be cast adrift…( unaffordable ) and Britain is no more…..maybe I’m suffering from an excess of alcohol….

Exactly Seamus, but it is the sheer extent of those exploits that is allowing evidence they missed to fall through the gaps.

If more and more pressure is put on the British state to come clean, eventually it will be unfeasible for our politicians to ignore and there should be a cross community demand for the truth to be released. A joint approach would surely remove the risk to national security would it not?

Mike nesbitt made a stand on the importance of truth, I see more support from unionist posters here also supporting the truth coming out, so here is an opportunity for unionists to make a real and positive move towards demonstrating there is a progressive and positive face of unionism. Likewise, Fine Gael can perhaps stand shoulder to shoulder with the families who have carried this fight on their own for so long.

The majority of British state abuses were carried out against innocent men, women and children. There is no justification in supporting this cover up. The public need to know where our politicians stand on this, north and south.

Billy,I don’t think the laughable farce conducted by the dissos could be called a conflict.

    • billy January 4, 2016 at 7:08 pm #

who mentioned republicans, diplock courts.internment.house raids recruiting informers ect/ect.supported by all the parties of course.

Billy,I never mentioned republicans.I was referring to incompetant wasters cheered on by barstool warriors and masquerading as republicans.

Jessica ,I can’t honestly see a whimper of discontent within political Unionism regarding the murderous criminality of their lords and masters. This barbarity was carried out mainly against the nationalist/republican community with the connivance of said Unionism using the ” not overly intelligent” pawns of the loyalist paramilitaries and as such was and is totally acceptable…..those pawns, unwittingly , are still being used, ( if those loyalists had kept records with names from the beginning etc ,that would be a different story. ) In the 26, Fine Gael is a unionist party ( albeit a small u ) with the same right-wing credentials as their Northern cousins and as such will never press for disclosure …that could advantage their nemesis ,Sinn Féin……didn’t they quickly and quietly bury the Dublin/Monaghan bombings ?
Billy , yes it’s repugnant that Diplock courts, Internment by remand, etc are still being used as is the Special Criminal Court in Dublin ,18 years after an international agreement, but whilst they can still cite a “terrorist threat” there will not be a general call for their removal…….It’s in the interests of MI5 ,MI6 , and all the other so-called “security services” that dissident republicans remain…..that’s how they justify their budget !

“if those loyalists had kept records with names from the beginning etc ,that would be a different story.”

Some did Seamus. Billy Hanna who established the mid ulster UVF to work along side the security forces, always sought confirmation from his handlers before carrying out killings or operations. It wasn’t an accident he was bumped off and its leadership and their main point of contact replaced with a less scrupulous individual. Nor that most of those who were involved in state murders died in so called loyalist feuds.

“It’s in the interests of MI5 ,MI6 , and all the other so-called “security services” that dissident republicans remain…..that’s how they justify their budget !”

So called British intelligence services, I believe honestly cannot tell the difference between the remaining dissident groupings and actual republicans.

Yes Billy, dissidents do not deserve the respect to use the term republican. They are either disobeying a direct stand down order or are simply self serving criminal elements many of which are paid state agents.

I’ll buy a pint for anyone here (who resides in Ireland) who can highlight where I clearly defended the wrong-doings of British armed forces as opposed to highlighting the misleading qualities of a particular paragraph.
