Men, women and children buried beneath undiscriminating rubble. Is there anything new to what’s happening in Gaza? Well, we might say that as Germany geared itself to provide the ‘final solution’ by gassing millions of Jews and the world stood by, so now the Israelis are aiming, it seems, for a final answer to the Palestinian question by killing every Palestinian in their way. You probably know that half of the Palestinian population is under eighteen. But think of this: every ten minutes, a Palestinian child is killed by Israel bombardment. Think of that and weep.
Or maybe you’d rather, as we do, think about Rishi Sunak’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference, and how the big star there, Elon Musk, has announced that one day in the not wildly distant future, nobody will need to work, except they choose to. Would you like to live in that world? Do you step into work each day with a smile on your lips and a song in your heart? And if you’re retired, do you wish there was a framework in place where the knowledge and, yes, wisdom you gained over the years might be fed back into the system?
Finally, Leo Varadkar was shown in South Korea yesterday, staring soulfully at the no-man’s-land (or should I say no-person’s-land?) separating South and North Korea. Shades of the Skibereen Eage, maybe? Or should we give the man a break and point out that he may have been there in the hope of getting some South Korean companies to set up in the twenty-six counties?
This and more, loaded with deep understanding and, of course, intelligence, as Pat and I round off another week.

Another excellent contribution to our knowledge of world affairs Jude. It perhaps is obvious that Hamas is the Palenstains version of the IRA because no group can survive without the support of the people. Is it any surprise that after 75yrs of occupation that they have evolved. What is your view on this theory?
